Been back at work this week after my trip to Vietnam. Feels like I didn't have a holiday. I hate that feeling.
Anyway, I started the week wearing the WatchCo-built Seamaster 300;
And switched over to the Oris Artelier Hand-Wound mid-week;
I've had a Hamilton Khaki Officer's Mechanical for the last seven years. I bought it during the height of the BIG WATCH craze. It measures 44mm in diameter and absolutely murders my 6.5 inch wrist, but I wanted a watch that looked like a wartime spy's piece of kit. And this oversized watch seemed to fit the bill.
It houses the beautiful Unitas 6498 hand-wound caliber and I wore it sparingly over the years.
Over the last year or so, I kept thinking I should sell this one and replace it with something that provides a better fit. So, I finally got around to getting a new Hamilton Khaki, in a more forgiving 40mm diameter. It arrived yesterday;
And I think it's a nicer fit. This one houses the ETA H10 calibre which offers a staggering 80 hour power reserve. I'm gonna test it out by taking it off later and putting it aside until Monday morning.
I not overly crazy about the strap, but it does give the watch a nice "Going after Rommel in North Africa, 1941" kind of vibe. Besides, I can always change it out for a Haveston NATO or padded black leather strap.
Yep, all in all, I'm happy with it, and if the power reserve is all that it promises, I'll be very happy with it.
Have a good weekend, all!
And watch y'all wearing on yer wrists, by the way?
