One of the biggest misconceptions, apart from the misconception that the Omega Ed White wore is known as the first omega in space (hint: it’s not, it’s the one Walter Schirra wore in space a few years prior), is that the color of the lume on the new watch is faux patina...it’s not faux patina... it’s yet another accurate-to-the-original detail they got right ... these watches came with none-white lume originally from the factory in the 60s.

As to the price: I dare anyone to find a ‘clean and correct’ vintage 105.003 that will not make one puke, in today’s market, with correct bracelet and endlinks, for 14k. If you can, feel free to pm me the deal, thanks.

Everyone is complaining about the price? Why? It's perfectly reasonable. Considering...

...that Kanye West and Gary Busey are clearly now co-running SSG.

I wonder what other perfectly reasonable decisions will be made? This should be an exciting new direction for Omega!

Stopped into my AD today and plonked down my deposit. I hope to see it in the steel some time in March.

Expensive.... you bet. In fact, I'll have to sell some Apple stock to pay for it.

Is it worth it??? Probably not...but that's what they said about the Snoopy!

Great watch, but crazy price! Knowing Omega, they will leverage this thing as far as possible. The movement will be used in many many watches, and there will be 4,628 different limited edition versions which will be coming out in the near future.
I shall sit in the sidelines and watch Omega do what they do best and water this down.

I wonder if this is a step towards pushing up the cost of future speedy (limited or otherwise) releases.

There is some speculation that this might be the plan with the 1861 being replaced with the 3861.

It's not the 20K AUD outlay I have a problem with but waliking around with 20K on my wrist... if I ding it on a door or such it would put me in a bad mood for a while...
my brain is doing some crazy justification math since I saw the pics though... ;)
