    Re: 2020 Speedmaster 321 "Ed White" 311.30.40.30.01.001

Wow! I am going to refrain from complaining about the price this time. With only 2000 units per year, I am guessing the first 2000 will go right away, then things will settle in a bit. And, for a change, it is great to see the open case back on a very deserving model. Case size is the same as the FOIS at 39.7mm, a perfect size. Looks like the push pieces are bigger, though and, of course, the gorgeous new stainless steel bracelet.

All I need now is a new watch to drool over! Well, perhaps my selling of my FOIS, Speedmaster Trilogy and Seamaster 300 Trilogy is timely, although I had not planned to spend the money. My decision to sell my two Speedy models, came a couple weeks after I got my Longines Avigation BigEye, and I knew I would never wear those two again. This one is a real game changer, though, and I could say a wonderful dilemma.

I complained bitterly, even to those higher up the ladder at Swatchgroup Canada, about the price of the new 007 Seamaster pro. But I really am going to reserve comment about the price of this 321. To me, it is the darling of all the Speedmaster models, whether they be gold, platinum or whatever features they may have.

In the beginning, with the Trilogy, I was very accepting, perhaps forgiving is a better word, about the faux patina. But it is really beginning to wear on me, although I still love my little Railmaster. That is a keeper for sure!

I must say that the first second I saw the photo of this one, I thought: Wow! Now they have really got it right. And it is expensive. As an acquaintance of mine - one who has absolutely no appreciation or understanding of watches - said recently, after I got my Longines BigEye: "Well, if you think 3 grand for a watch is reasonable, then you really have a problem!" I can't begin to imagine what he would think about the Speedmaster 321 nor, quite frankly, do I care.

Enough of my incessant rambling! Now back to take a serious look at this watch. Oh, what fun!

    Cheers,
    Carl

edit: I mentioned that they are not using fauxtina. But i see they have used it. However, this time it is IMO just very subtle and as it should be, if at all.

Really great to see the 321 back. With a display back (like Breguet did with it's version of the Lemania 25+ years ago) And they did a little more finishing this time - maybe now that you can actually watch it in action.

    Omega site says $14,100 retail.

Gorgeous watch regardless or price, Omega really stayed true to the original with some tasteful material updates.
    My thoughts exactly!

That was my first reaction too, 12k€ seemed pretty steep.

But then I thought that list price for Daytona is plus 12k€, if you ever get one. And the cheapest European listing in Chrono24 for a new one is 22k€.

    so good news for me!!!
I have a 1962 with a 321, parts are long gone for repair, solved
the interesting thing about the actual watch, they based it on the 105.003, that one had a tritium dial, and showed the 2 "T"s either side of SWISS MADE
the actual watch that's closest is the 105.002, it has the radium dial from the 2998 with the hands from the "next gen" 105.003
the real difference is the bezel, while yes they did dot over ninety, the font is thicker for sure, but nice work, I hope I can buy one of those bracelets separately, my 7912 wouldn't fit my wrist soI bought an 1125, I'm not complaining but,,,, the bracelet is a bit rattly and the 7912 has the different finishes on the inner and outer links, solace I said good news for me, I might actually buy one too, still love the vintage, but with a warrantee

I know people love to hate on limited editions, but I need this to happen.
