Wow, I just read this and I was shocked at the price. I kept the email in my inbox from Omega so I can look at it. I’m spending $2800 to have my 861 that I purchased new back in ‘72 completely redone with a new case, case back and bezel, face and hands. It’s not a 321 but it seems like a bargain for a brand new look. The price for a brand new Speedmaster Professional with the 861 movement was $300.00 back in 1972. I’m no economist but the prices now seem exponentially higher.

I'll bet they could price it at 100K and the watch media insiders club would still find a way to justify it as a good decision.

About $1850 in today's dollars. So almost 8x inflation. Bonkers.

I’m sorry but the Daytona also carries the brand value. By no means am I trying to turn this into an Omega vs Rolex debate, but the fact remains Rolex holds better value.

Since this Speedy will be limited to likely 2,000 pieces per year, it will likely hold strong value. Though, I’d be inclined to buy a true vintage 321 at the price these will command on the secondary market.

I’m not sure though that buying the “Ed White” Speedy would give me a joy factor equivalent to the amount it costs in excess to a Speedy sapphire sandwich.

Just my honest $0.02. I buy watches because I like them and want to wear them, bet lots of these go into safes as “investors” will pick up their fair share.

You forgot to add, the Daytona is a current decade original design with newest movement and material, not a factory frankenstein for 13k

Love it... Omega in my mind did it right. The price though is ridiculous..... shame on you Omega. Too bad that so many watch brands are making jokes of their customers and even worse that it seems to work. You want what you cant get, right?? Wake up people.... ; ))
