I'm probably one of the few that don't understand the hype over this model or the caliber 321. Please enlighten me...

Pretty much because the 321 was the actual movement worn on the moon. Thatís pretty much all of it... oh, and it has a column wheel. Still doesnít justify the fact itís priced 3x more than the regular Speedy.

    $20,000.00 AUD

Wow, that's a hike. This is the second [overpriced?] Omega after the Bond. Is this Omega trailing a new pricing strategy?

Personally I'd source the original Snoopy over this. Horses for courses

They chasing the higher prices to make sure they keep up with Rolex and away from Tudor I guess. Also they know people want the 321, put some gold in it, ceramic bezel and make it a tad more than the Daytona knowing full well people can’t buy a Daytona. Idea has legs. In saying that I’d prefer it if was 15k aud. Pretty sure there will be a wait list regardless.

I have been really interested in speedmasters lately, and reading a lot, but I am with you on this. It makes me feel like I should understand why this movement is so great, but I really don't.

I love the new offering. I wish I could get for $4000 less with an 861 movement though.

Except you wonít be able to find this either ... if they are only producing about 2,000 per year as estimated, likely Asia and US will see most of the units. Here in Canada, we might see 20/year and thatís being generous I believe.
