Confused 2500C Aqua Terra not Working Properly - Please Help

I have not worn my AT for perhaps two months. It has been on a watch winder during those two months. It seemed fine last time I recall. However, I just took it off and it was dead. I am newbie, but I believe I am winding it properly.

I unscrew the crown and you can feel it slide over a notch, without actually pulling it. I wound it there clockwise.

It sometimes starts to work, then stops. If I shake it, same thing. If I wear it, same thing. Will run 3-4 seconds then stop. I wore it for about 30 minutes, and it move about 20 seconds in that time. But then dead again.

I thought you could not over wind these, but also if you did wind it it would start up. I am now worried something has happened. I did remove the watch last week briefly from the watch winder, now I am thinking perhaps I did not screw the crown down properly and then placed it back on?

In any event, wondering what might be wrong or if I am doing something wrong. I put it back on the watch winder. Seems to have moved another 2 seconds in the last two turns on the winder. But still dead. Thank you.

It has not been serviced for several years if not more.

I'm not sure what happened. But it seems like your watch should be examined by a watchmaker or sent of to Omega for analysis. They'll let you know what is wrong and let you know how much it will cost for repair. I wish you luck.

2500C had some rumored issues exactly as you describe. It seems most were fixed with a service.

As everyone said unless you know the service history of the watch that watch is long overdue for a service.

I had to 2500 C movements serviced and they been flawless since.

I still have a planet ocean 2500 that never been serviced and it’s still running great. To be fair it sat in a box for about five years.

If it runs for a few seconds when you shake it and then stops it sounds like the mainspring is defective. By shaking it you move the balance for a few seconds. At least this is what happened to my 1957 Constellation. After a service and it now runs great.

Yes shake it seems to move it a few seconds.

But I wore it all week and it moved 10 mins in total. Does this still sounds like it needs servicing? Just thought it might be something easier to fix since only option here is to send to Omega for $800 full service charge.

I have a 35 year old Submariner, which I have had serviced a couple of times. This last time the watch would just “randomly” stop running, winding it with the stem or wearing wouldn’t get it to run. This last time the teeth/gears on the stem were worn, and debris in the watch kept the rotor from moving. If winding the stem won’t make your watch run, and wearing it won’t start it, it is time for a service.
