Black Faced VS Blue Faced 300M Chrono Divers...

I came across an earlier post that compared two 300M Chrono Divers: the black faced 2594.52.00 and the blue faced Bond style 2225.8

    https://forums.watchuseek.com/showthr...ght=2594.52.00

I currently have the slightly older 25988 (pre 2225.8 version...actually it has the silver bezel and not the blue one) bought from an AD in 2000.

How do these two watches' (2594.52 VS 2225.8/25988) movements compare (Omega 3301 VS Omega 1164 respectively) and which of these two watches do you prefer and why?

I was also wondering, do ADs ever take watches in partial trade or what is the best way to sell an Omega in near mint condition if one is interested in doing so (with intent to purchase a different Omega)?

    Thank you very much.

The 33xx movements are based on a F. Piguet movement, and there have been some reports of problems. There are a couple of threads around here about that. The 1164 is based on the tried and true Valjoux 7750. This movement has some problems of its own, but considering that it is used in some form or another by dozens of brands in probably hundreds of applications, it would be weird if you never heard of problems with it.

As for preferences, I have a 2599.80, which I actually like just a little bit better than the 2225.80, just because of some of the styling cues. This is 100% personal preference, and I have no science whatsoever to back that up. I just like the markers at 12,3,6 and 9, and I like that the circle on the sweep second hand eclipses the hubs of the subdials. But that's just me. I also tend to like the blue face, but again, pure personal opinion.

Some ADs will probably take a partial trade. This pretty much depends on whether the AD in question deals with pre-owned watches. Some of the big national chains in the US will do this, but others won't. In any case, it's certainly a reasonable question to ask! If that doesn't work out, the sales forums here are a great way to move a watch, and then, of course, there's always eBay.

    Good luck, and enjoy!
