I owned both of those at the same time. I still have the 39.5mm PO in blue, but sold the 42mm blue titanium Planet Ocean. I would have probably kept the titanium if I didn't have the 39.5mm to compare it against. Despite the lightweight grade 5 titanium, the titanium model felt too bulky because of the excessive case thickness. Despite the fact that the 39.5mm is steel and not titanium, it simply has a lighter and more natural feel on my 6.75" wrist.

For me, though, my favorite Planet Ocean is still the first generation 42mm model. It just has the most classic look at best look on the wrist.

39.5mm for me on my slim 17cm wrists. Love this watch.

I like each iteration of the PO less than the one that came before it. The model on the right looks much cleaner with the continuous ring around the bezel and unconnected minute markers.

My vote is for the 8500. I prefer the blue, it's overall look and the titanium is too cool.

If you're into the movements I think the 8900 takes it, but I lean to how it feels and looks.

Can't go wrong with either, so happy hunting!

Both are great, but I went with the 8900.

I liked the case size better and I preferred the steel for both the weight and the appearance.

The 45.5mm is just too big unless you have a giant wrist. I think many people think they can pull it off but regret the decision to by the XL and end up selling it.

My advice is to see them (or at least the 8900) in person. I went from *sure* I was getting blue to strongly disliking the color in person. IMO it photographs so much better than it looks in real life. I was very sad, as I was set on blue. Black will be the buy for me instead.
