From a ruggedness perspective, a column wheel is weaker than the cam.

By almost any measure that a watch enthusiast would measure a calibre the 321 is the more desirable calibre. Claiming otherwise is pure ignorence.

    Calibre 321 Back In Production

Given the production methods for this re-issue calibre I can't see it becoming standard for any watch.

This will be a limited edition of their often not limited, limited editions. (Ie, add 1K for each limited in previous sentence)

They digitally scanned a true space Speedmaster to see inside... lol.
As if it’s going to be different from any other 321 calibres of the same era.

They’re going to gouge the hell out of the price.

I'm glad I waited to get my moonie. Looks like I can get a 321 and not the clutched bridged version of the column and fork.

    Calibre 321 Back In Production

Apparently the new 321 has a vertical clutch now...

I wish these things were written by people who knew what they were talking about.

Wow! Some interesting reading here. I have probably learned more today about the various calibers than I ever thought I would. Although I am admittedly fairly clueless.

Amazing that Omega has undertaken such a project. Well, it's another excuse to visit the local Boutique and see what they have to say down there. It is really interesting following the 60th Anniversary Trilogy release. I don't think Omega can improve on those models. Makes me wonder what the case will be like with the 321! Have to say this is all a bit exciting. Unfortunately, my purse is rather empty right now!

    Cheers,
    Carl

Next, they'll claim its coaxial and has a Si14 escapement.

Yes. If you read properly this article states that based on the production costs being lower for a CAM actuated movement, it would be more robust for military use.

If watch enthusiasts bought on production costs they would all be wearing quartz.

Read more widely about integrated chronograph calibres and you'll find that column wheels are far more highly regarded. Every current manufacturer of chronograph calibres used in new watches at the highest levels use column wheel calibres. If it wasn't considered a more desirable calibre, there would be no point in re-issue.
