    Clasp tape

    Anyone else do this?

Got fed up of marking the clasp on the edge of my laptop. Buffed the marks out with some scotch brite and then applied a carefully shaped piece of 3M tape. I see this as the equivalent of a screen protector. I’ve seen bespoke pieces for the Rolex Oyster, but nothing for Omega’s....hence the home hack.

That's a good idea (for any watch). I wonder how long until it peels and/or yellows?

The 3M tape is pretty good. They use it on car sills and wheel arches. Called copter tape, and doesn’t yellow easily. Unlike a car, my watch stays out of UV most of the day. I’ve had this piece on for 6 months now. Pretty happy.....and I’ve got a roll of the stuff.

    Re: Clasp tape

never done this..watch will always get scratched and i dont stare at my clasp

i also dont use screen protectors on my phone bc for me its ruins the screen image quality

why buy a xyz high res phone model and then mask the true quality with a piece of plastic.

its kinda like when i read about someone wrapping their new car in ppf....

beautiful factory finish paint wrapped in saran wrap??

This is a really good idea. What I find interesting, is that if a watch is new, I'll baby it more the a used watch, for a while anyway. If a used watch has scratches on it, I don't feel as guilty if I mark it up lol.

    Nope

Watches are going to get scratches. That is the nature of the game.

My Omega SMP midsize had a flawless clasp when I got it and it is well scratched now. It does not bother me

    Re: Clasp tape

The proper WUS way to do it is to leave the clasp alone and instead 3M tape your laptop as well as everything else that gets within a few inches of your clasp.

Seriously though, I would try working towards accepting scratches as the norm, it is much healthier for oneself in the long run.

    Re: Clasp tape

I have come to except scratches and dings. Turns out, these watches need a servicing at some time and come back looking new anyway.
