Both good choices and I can see why you are debating. I prefer the AT and would go that route. I can also understand wanting a GS, spring drive, and something differnet than an Omega in rotation. In the end it comes down to which one you like more though? First is aesthetics then technology and brand for me.

I still say the AT even though you already have a few Omegas. There's good reasons you do and why change now especially when the 2 watches are similar in looks but the AT edges out the GS to my eyes.

The crown on that GS seems a bit much.

I have the blue-dial Aqua Terra and its great. Very versatile. The independent hour hand is a cool feature and the co-axial escapement is a significant horological innovation on it's own (just like the spring drive). The screw down crown, higher WR and brand recognition also give Omega an edge.

I considered a GS, and will probably get one as my next piece. I'm not sure why I picked the AT over the GS, probably because it was less expensive and a little more sporty, which better matched my lifestyle at the time.

My vote, get the AT and add a light-dialed GS later.

Out of the 2 I would go for the AT. Ive also heard GS service prices are crazy and patchy too, as someone else mentioned. If you fancy a change from Omega, Tudor do some great watches which would compete with the AT. The Black bay range have a good choice of dial and sizes.

Tough choice, I own Rolex, Omega and Grand Seiko.
To be honest, they are both great brands, I doubt you'd regret buying either.

Does lume matter to you? If yes, the Omega has it and GS does not. I find it nice to be able to quickly check the time at night.

AT looks a bit sportier. The GS a but dressier and slightly more versatile looks wise in my opinion. It would probably be easier to sell the AT if needed down the line based on brand popularity.

If it's your main or only watch, I recommend the AT. If you already have sportier pieces, the GS is a more viable choice.

I'm familiar with the ineptitude of the Seiko service center; they are so incompetent that GS actually refunded me after they were unable to fix my GS after 4 times.

    You read it, 4 times.

I bought an Omega with the proceeds.

Do yourself a favor and stick with a brand that has pedigree and a track record for great post-sales service, especially at your price point. Sure, the dial work of the GS is arguably better than the AT, but if the GS breaks, it's a gamble.

    That's my experience.

For what it's worth, I've been on WUS for almost a decade.

    Best of luck!
    He has a point.

I have a GS SBGJ003. Its a gorgeous watch, but was replaced under warranty the first time. The second one started losing time out of spec after about a year. Sent it for service and, when I got it back four months later, it was even worse, losing 10-15 seconds per day. Sent it back out and it is okay now, running within spec but barely so.

Suffice it to say that Im just a bit gun-shy after two lemons in a row. I certainly wont be buying another GS automatic.

Dilema - 38.5 Skyfall or Grand Seiko SBGA375

    Hi NativeTxn,

I have an Omega AT 38.5mm Skyfall that I may sell. Interestingly, I bought it brand new from an authorized dealer in June 2017 so it still has 2+ years of Omega Intl Warranty (I would guess my watch is the only one anywhere that has an Omega warranty that long).

Its a wonderful watch. I originally bought it for myself, but I gave it to my Dad. This is going to sound crazy, but he did not like it 100%. He loved the look, but he hated winding it He actually wants a quartz watch so he can just pick up and go. So, I bought him a new quartz TH Aquaracer to replace this watch.

If you are interested PM me and maybe I will sell it.

Here is a 4K video of it (and my Submariner) so you can see it.

I have owned both. I just traded my 375. In fact, I listed it on this board.

GS makes a fine watch. The sweep hand on the spring drive is insane. The accuracy is impressive too.

However, I think the dial on the Omega trumps everything. I sold my Skyfall long ago and always regretted it. Ive been on the look for one since. I think overall its a better watch.
