"I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be very large and very strong and very cold, and very well made. I hate small portions of anything, particularly when they taste bad."

One does not simply don a blue dialed aqua terra and not pour oneself a Vesper.

Tried something new tonight at an event at the OB here in Detroit. It's called the Peat Monster. Not too bad.

I haven't had a good smoke since July. I figured tonight was a good night to get reacquainted with a Davidoff. I'm drinking Jefferson's Ocean.

I am not sure. I did not ask the bartender. I do know that I need to add a bottle to my stash here at home.

The second casking/batch was broken down into "batches" and "bottles," so each bottle would be labeled "batch x" and "bottle y." The third casking/batch seems to have been streamlined somewhat by all bottles being labeled from "Voyage No. 3." I have a bottle from Batch II, and wish I had bought more as an investment. Given that only three barrels were used on that first experimental batch, I hate to think what any unconsumed bottles from Batch I would cost now.

The jury's still out on Batch III and IV. A lot of the mouthfeel and nuance of the first two batches has been lost in the subsequent batches, as they obviously move to capitalize on the novelty of this bourbon. And, for the money, there now are better choices to be had.
