1 1/2 years. One year if I take a couple of summer classes, which I might do. I'm studying a mechanical engineer with an emphasis on automotive. If all goes well I'll get paid to make cars go fast.

When I was young and in college I studied "social engineering" so I could make women go fast (and I mean find fast women).

They already go fast. At least mine does.

One of my new found joys is modding my new vehicle. I didn't know it needing modding until after I bought it. Already spent an Omega or two on it. I like the challenge of putting things together and the thrill of ripping them apart.

Congrats on what should be an enjoyable field.

    Somehow I am not surprised.

My "fair weather car" most is most certainly fast enough to get me into a lot of trouble in a very short amount of time. I did 99% of the modifications to it, including engine building. Less than 24 hours after I bought my Avalanche it had a tune in it. It runs MUCH better with a tune than without it.
Thank you. I have a recruiter waiting for me to graduate so that I can be hired into their performance division. This recruiter works for one of the Big 3.

Of course I deserved that for being silly. But in my defense I did keep my GPA up and interviewed well enough to be accepted to 3 of the 4 medical schools in which I applied (and yes, I went on to become a lovable pediatrician for many years until I got sick and retired to be Mr. Mom for my 3 kids).

And congrats on the future job in the performance division. It sound like a lot of fun.

I actually was in the Subaru performance parts business from 2000-2005, having designed the GanzFlow cold air intake for the Subaru (in German Ganz means "total or complete"). That lead me to start up and run SubaruPlanet.com for 5 years (with the largest fully searchable database of Subaru websites of over 700 links). I carried a wide assortment of upgrades including intakes, exhaust, ECU upgrades, turbo kits, handling and suspension upgrades, etc.

I got a lot of hands on experience installing the parts on my car and others, but my health went further downhill and I gave it up after it got too busy (It was up to $40K/mo in gross sales, but my successor ran it into the ground with poor customer service and no marketing).
