Having problems wearing mine due to not wanting to wear it out.

I bought my 2254 3 months ago and only wear it on Fridays to work and Saturday nights because I don't want to get it all scratched up. It's got to the point where I'm considering buying an $1K Tag for a everyday watch because the whole point was to have a nice everyday watch for once.

Is this normal when you buy an expensive item like this? I really don't have any luxury items besides my stereo equipment and that just sits there. Should I buy the Tag and have that as my "beater" and continue to have the O as my weekend watch or just let it get scratched up and buy a new one later. I feel like I should have one in like-new condition for some reason.

Watches are meant to be worn.

Agreed, plus the SMP can take a beating and still look great due to its design and finish. With a good watch, it won't become unsightly as it gets wear, it just grows in character.

    Wear it.
Like a bespoke British shotgun after the first few scratches it doesn't hurt any longer.

Ten years of wall to wall abuse will leave it looking like this:

New buckle and bezel a couple of years ago new seals every other battery change. No servicing whatsoever.

It's a tool watch not a dress watch. You will not break it.

Yea I need to just suck it up and put it on. Maybe buy some more to spread out the wear

Does anyone ever take them in just to get polished and scratches out once a year or anything?

    No offense but...

    get over it.

That's what I was told when I worried about scratching my brand new Rolex. Best advice anyone ever gave me. I don't even notice the scratches anymore. I just enjoy my watch.

Do what I did. Sell your "new" watch, and get a used one.
Scratching a used one hurts a lot less (at least IMO).

the seamasters are easy to polish, if you get too many scratches after a few years of use, polish it, itll look spanking.
but the only thing is, be careful with the bezel, their scratches show no matter how small, and you cant polish it out..and a new bezel costs a bit..

The SMP is probably amongst the best everyday watches out there, and trust me, it'll out live you
