Hello and question: AT used or gray market

    Hello,

I have been scouring the forum for a while for recommendations, and am pretty convinced that I would like to acquire an AT8500 38.5 gray.

My first thought was that this is a relatively popular watch and that I could pick one up on the used (with references) market for a pretty good discount. I posted a WTB, but no contact after a bit, and none have come up in my monitoring on watch recon.

I have access to a couple gray market dealers, so I can get a discount off retail. For those that follow the market closer than I, is this just a slow time on the sales forums? Is this watch too popular? Should I stick it out a bit more, or revert to the grey market dealer?

Thanks for the interesting discussions on the forum, and thanks in advance for the advice.

    Jon

You should probably hang out in the Omega forum and ask for direction over there. I know I did before I purchased my Omega and I got some great advice that led me to a phenomenal purchase. Good luck.

Ok, that make sense. I see you that you are a moderator. Is it possible for you to move my post?

I also see that you are in DC, which is where I am located. Would be grateful if you are willing to share any tips.

    Thank you.

Re: Hello and question: AT used or gray market

I purchased mine from ebay. I was lucky it was a real 'safe queen' and didn't have a mark on it and I got a fairly good deal on it. But recently there haven't been many AT8500's on the sales forum.
Mine is not going up for sale because I know how hard it would be to replace it given the price I paid for it 9 months ago..

Just remember if you buy from the grey market, you will probably not have the option of a factory warranty if that is important to you.

Not if you buy from my guy...Three watches I've bought and all came stamped/signed/dated, A/d warranties.
