    Help me decide!

    But first:

I know they're two completely different watches,

I know it all comes down to personal preference,

I know I'm asking in the Omega forum,

But I still can't make up my mind between the PO 232.32.46.21.01.005 and the Panerai 111.

I've tried them both on several times. Both gorgeous. Love the simplicity of the PAM, love the boldness of the PO. Both badass watches, great size and weight.

I feel like the PO is a little bit better value at $3,300 vs $4,100 for the PAM (both used), but both are worth the price- I'd pay more for the PO if the market dictated.

Looking for something I can wear everyday or dress up with a suit. I feel like the PAM has a little more versatility here, particularly with all the strap options. The orange accents of the PO are pretty awesome though.

    What do y'all think?

Suppose I should post the same in the PAM forum. :)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Omega fan, and I love the PO (unfortunately from a distance right now), but in a suit? I wouldn’t do a PO in a suit. It doesn’t fit under the cuff and the style is a little too... casual. In this case, I think I’d go with the Pam.

Between the two, I'd go the Panerai. If you later still have a jones for the PO, you could snap up a lightly used one and save a few bucks.
While both watches will have yearly price increases, the PAM will probably jump up in price at a higher increment than the Omega.

Personally, though, because Panerai have such a unique look and design, I'd probably still end up getting a PO at some point.

Each watch does something that the other can't.

As for dressing it up with a suit, a dressier watch would be the better choice, in my humble op.

    Best of luck!

I agree with you on this one. I don’t think I ever saw anyone wear a PO with a suit. You’d get away with wearing a Pam with a suit combo.

I'd go with the PAM as well. Versatility is really important unless that doesn't bother you.

I'm not a fan of Panerai watches so the PO all day long for me. I agree that the Panerai would dress up better with a suit, but I've worn a PO with a suit with no issues. So did a certain secret agent

I've posted photos for people who might not know the models by reference number.

    Re: Help me decide!

I have returned to look at and try on a Panerai (same with the Speedy) more times than I can remember, but never been completely convinced. For me the simplicity looks great now only I worry how quickly it will just appear empty and too plain. I accept the same could be said for many a dress watch, but from its size and the large numbers on the dial this is not a dress watch. Having said this in a watch shop once I broke my golden rule and argued in favour of a guy to buy a Panerai (he was discussing it with a lady friend and asked my opinion - bad idea to get involved!) because it was so clearly the one that sang to him the most. You should also get the one that sings to you the most. Good luck and please show us what you decide.

    Re: Help me decide!

I wear a PO daily but wouldn’t think of wearing it with suit or tux, but then I wouldn’t wear a PAM either. Fortunately I only need to put on a penguin suit once or twice a year and basically never wear a suit.

I know it’s not one of your initial 2 watches mentioned, but I’ll go out on a limb here and suggest you take a look at the new Aqua Terras. Very good looking watch, fits in the diver category (hey, it’s in the Seamaster line!), and is a very universal watch. A simple but beautiful dial that can easily pull off the dress watch look on a strap and then go on a NATO or rubber strap for casual attire. Lots of color options too...

100% for the Omega. I don't like Panerai at all, so it's an easy decision, for me.
I could stop buying watches, but I'm no quitter.
