I know my question will sound stupid but...could you buy a Hesalite version and have the AD install a saphire crystal caseback?

Why not just buy the sapphire sandwich? You will greatly destroy the value of the watch by modifying it.

I doubt an AD will install one but there are aftermarket display case backs for speedies any watch repair shop should be able to swap out for you. It wont impact the value of the watch at all provided you retain your original caseback.

That said, I like the solid back for this particular watch. To me display backs are more for dressy pieces.

Because most prefer the look of Hesalite model and they also want to see the movement. If cases are the same, i see no problem in removing the solid caseback and replace it with saphire crystal. No modification needed. But i think Omega made sure this can't be done somehow.
