Just got lucky and bought a pie-pan yesterday.

I've been on the lookout for a pie-pan for a while. Put in a low snipe on this one and got a surprise win:

One of the newer front load cases. Looks all original except the band. I'll post better pics once it clears US customs from Canada and makes it way here.

    Take care all,

Very nice find, gator It looks to be in great condition, and with the original box?
Any idea what year that is? Late 60s?
Is it unusual to find a pie pan in that style case?

Very nice! Originally, those Constellations never came on stainless steel bracelets. Jewelers put them on them at request.

Try a brown or black croco strap and try to find an original Omega buckle for it. Will look superb!!

    Eric,

I think this style case was only made for a very short time in the late 1960's. Maybe it made was for people like me, for whom the "C" style would be too large. This might be one of the very last pie-pans.

The Omega date chart tells me the movement (serial number 27M) was made in 1967 or 1968. I've only seen a few like this. The case ref. (168.025) is actually engraved on the back of the watch, although you can barely see it in the picture.

What is odd is that this case ref. not listed in the Omega Vintage database. There is a listing for 168.015 which is identical in all material respects. I think the ".025" stands for pie-pan dial.

If anyone out there has the Omega Saga book and can confirm the above, it would be much appreciated.

I was able to find an auction for an identical watch last night and felt real good about paying considerably less than that buyer.

Perhaps this style is not as popular because it cannot be taken apart and easily adjusted by amateur WIS's like us.

Thanks much to all for your kind words,

    gatorcpa

P.S. I think the box is original, but it is missing the inside stand. Can't have it all, you know.B-)

Thanks to all on the board for your encouragement and kind words. It will be about a week before I actually get to hold it and can report further, provided there is no hold up at the US/Canada border.

I was acutally thinking of getting the "beads of rice" band, but now, I'm not so sure.

Anyone have a line on a old-style steel Omega buckle they're not using?
