Looking for a trusted vintage (321) Speedy Pro source

    Hi All!

As my project Speedy gets closer to completion, I'm thinking ahead, and have decided that my next watch will be a cal. 321-based Speedy Pro. A gorgeous 145.012 seems to have slipped through my fingers, so I'm looking for any advice as to who has quality, non franken pieces.

I'd love to hear about good and bad experiences, PMs or public discussions as appropriate are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks much!

Both of my 321s came off of eBay, Michael, and each was bought for <$1300.

My 145.012-67 was acquired from the original purchaser and came with papers and on the 1039 bracelet.

When I decided that I wanted the 105.012 that the "moon walkers" wore, it likewise came off of eBay.

Unfortunately auction prices for cal. 321 Speedies today are skyrocketing but nice ones are still available on eBay. So bone up on what to look for, ask the right questions and be prepared to pay the price.

And I'm looking forward to seeing your PW.

Ah, I can appreciate that fine distinction, my friend

I'm very curious about your "project," Michael. My ref.145.012 was one of the first few important watch purchases I made, and I elected to purchase from a b&m store (which I contacted through their website). At the time, I payed a bit of a premium for that peace of mind, but it didn't take long for prices to rise well beyond.

Although there are exceptions, ebay doesn't seem to be the source of frequent c.321 bargains, as in years past. In fact, with the recent surge, you might consider searching long and hard, in the furthest corners of the web to find a storefront, willing to bargain. Of course, for overall quantity, ebay is hard to beat.

Best of luck, and do keep us updated on your progress!

    Thanks for the input, guys!

A couple of months ago, when I was purchasing my 176.012, my local watch dealer showed me a BEAUTIFUL 145.012 Speedy Pro, in beautiful condition, including box, papers, and the original sales receipt (7/7/69)!!! Unfortunately, he said he as holding it for a friend, but that the friend was a "flake", and that I could be in a "realistic second" position for it. I'm afraid its time to give up on that one.

For the meantime, I think I'll be waiting for the tide to bring something else in to my local dealer... eBay just seems to weird for my comfort lately on something like that...

Thanks again, and I'll certainly post when something happens!
