Iím fairly new to the hobby, building up my collection over the last year. It has Rolex and PP making up the majority, along w a few other fun more inexpensive pieces. People have said many times that a collection is not complete without a Speedy...well who wants a collection thatís not complete?!?
For my first Speedy it seems fitting that I consider getting the upcoming Apollo 11 50th anniv watch. I talked to. The AB about it the other day and put down the $5k fully refundable deposit. He guesses they will release them (and have a number in store) on July 21 to mark the 50th anniv to the day. He also assumes they will make 6,969 of them. Press release expected March 20th. They will make it in steel and gold (i would get steel). Most seem to think it will feature the original 321 movement.
Anyone have any feedback re 1. This being a good first (and maybe only?) Speedy in my collection and 2. Any other color about the watch, the launch, etc? 3. While I would expect to own it for the long term, thoughts re value retention on past milestone LEs?
