Gorgeous watch! One of Omegas finest offerings if you ask me. Would be great to keep it in the family.

That is a watch that needs to be worn and not kept in a drawer.

You can see what sort of prices they command on line (remember to factor in a service when coming up with a true value).

Do make him an offer, as you will both be happy with the result.

Re: My old uncle showed me his Omega Constellation today

Thanks all for your suggestions! Next time when I meet my uncle I must make him an offer!

I checked online photos of other old Constellations and found that there was "Officially Certificated" printed on those dials. My uncle's watch does not have these printed words. Does it tell that my uncle's watch is a bit "inferior" or older?

    Cheers

Re: My old uncle showed me his Omega Constellation today

My uncle just called me. He said that if I was interested, he could give it to me for free! He said he no longer wore it and would like to find a watch lover to be its next owner.
But definitely I shall not take it from him without paying him. He is my respectable uncle.

I checked chrono24 and found one asking for about USD4000.

May you guys give me some advice? I am new to Omega and truly have no idea how much value these vintage watches could hold. My uncle said he bought his watch in 1968/1969. He does not keep the box and the papers. He said he had just taken the watch to basic service (oiling). The watch is now running fine. Yet a comprehensive service may be required to restore it to its best conditions.

What would be a fair price for this watch?
    Thanks in advance!

Such a lovely watch. The Constellation is criminally underrated - will be picking one up soon!

That is a beauty that it would be good to keep in the family. If he wouldn’t accept money then perhaps a donation to the charity of his choice. However, as someone else said you should bear in mind it would be best to get it serviced.

I asked my uncle, "How old were you in 1968 / 69?"
    He replied, "Under twenty."
"What!? You bought an Omega when you were a teenager!?"
"Why not? I love beautiful things. This Omega was not that expensive at that time. Every month I saved up part of my salary and finally got it."
