Old Aqua Terra 8500 vs Newer 8800

Thinking about picking up a 38mm Aqua Terra in blue dial...undecided if I should go with the older version or newer one.
Slight differences in case symmetry, movement functionality, crown shape, lume on minute hand, bracelet brushing etc.

If price is same for a used 8500 and new 8800, which one would you go for?

I would go with the old one personally. I prefer the thinner bezel and and vertical lines on the face which are more subtle.

I had the same dilemma back in 2017. I went for the 8500 and couldn't be happier with my decision. The vertical teak dial just appeals to me more than the horizontal one.

Does the 8800 have the independently adjustable hour hand? I love that feature on my 8500.

I haven't seen the new model in the flesh, so I can't comment on the dial changes.

Both superb. I slightly prefer the 8500.

No I think it has the quick set date instead of the hour hand. I don't take advantage of that much though. Wish the 8900 fit in that 38mm case... best of both words in there I think?

I had the older 8500 Skyfall blue. Aesthetically nicer than the 8800 due to vertical teak dial lines and the silver border around the date and less bling with the fully brushed bracelet.

Owned both for a while, slightly preferred the 8800 because I really like the rubber straps on the newer models. I do prefer the shade of blue on the 8500 to the 8800 tho. Ultimately ended up selling both. So for blue I’d take the 8500, but for other colors I prefer the 8800

Movement wise, not much different. But i prefer 8800 because of the quick change date. If you have some watches in rotation or seldom wear the watch, quick change date is much more usefull than quick hour change. Changing the date by changing the quick hour change also wear the gears a lot, so a no no for me.
