Omega 2538.20 Great White GMT Owners Chime In Please

Ive been eyeballing these on the pre owned market for a while and GMT makes my life easier at work so having one for that is helpful. My question is those of you who own them or have owned them what did you like/dislike about it and how does it wear. My only experience with Omega was my old Planet Ocean 45 mm I think it was the XL version. It wore huge and I loved it. My current daily wear is a Tudor Black Bay which is a 41mm. I've heard the Omega GMT uses an modified ETA 2892 but I know nothing about that movement as far as cost to service etc. I went to my local stores and there are no longer any AD in Alaska so seeing any omega and trying it on before buying it isn't likely to happen.

I've wanted to come back to the brand for a while and I will most likely stay in the seamaster realm because I want something with more than splash level WR although I love the Speedy. It seems that pre owned seamsters like the 2538.20 offer me a great way to do that. So anyway Great White owners tell me your experiences. Thanks in advance

I had one and sold it...

big mistake and I bought another.

Great watch, I got an adjustable clasp for the bracelet and find it works well on lots of straps.

Love mine. It is a little thicker than regular Seamasters and I like the difference. +1 on the different straps - goes great on a black dive strap and the Omega Bond NATO. I also added the adjustable clasp. Have one on all my Seamasters now.

I have one. It’s a summer watch. I absolutely love the dial. Head to head with the polar explorer 2. Perfect size too.

Dislikes: the insert design. It’s very difficult to turn without a perfect grip. And the insert. I think the bold letters in only two dimensions. It’s painted on. No depth an the size of the numbers are in your face and slightly distracting.

But it still wins. The wave dial destroys the direct competition.

I have the black dial version. The size works for me even though its my largest watch (36 mm explorer, 40 mm IWC). The GMT function with jumping local hour hand works great. The crown is a little small and the crown guard makes it worse. The Bezel is a little tricky to grab, but to be honest I only use the home/local time, so I'm not using the bezel much. I really like the red GMT hand and second hand tip along with the Red "GMT". Its become one of my favorite watches.

I've got the black dial version, too. On a "Bond" tank-tread bracelet with an adjustable clasp it is, without question, the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. The crown is a bit small, but it does come out enough when unscrewed to give good purchase. The bezel can be tough to move with wet hands since the scalloped edge doesn't provide much grip. But these are small gripes, overall. In photos, the bezel numbering looks a bit much, but on the wrist I've not noticed it to look out of place.

Here's mine in its natural habitat: beachcombing on a sand bar in the Bahamas. Hey, where'd all these stupid "desk diver" swirlies come from?

The wave dials are mesmerizing. I have both white and black. The 50th is going up for sale as soon as it returns from service. Breaks my heart. Too little time on the wrist
