    Omega Geneve Dynamic Question

    Hello everyone,

I just purchased a vintage Omega Dynamic recently and it came it today. I was really excited to see it. However, when I was setting the time, I realized there's so much about this watch I don't know. I tried to do a little research, but haven't come with much and was wondering if I could pick up some answers on the forum.

Here is a picture of the watch for reference:

    Questions:

    1. Is this movement hacking?
-It doesn't appear to be when I set the time.

    2. How do you set the day & date?
-When I pull the crown to the second position, it appears to change
the date. However, when I turn the crown either way, neither the date
nor the day changes. It feels like the only way to set the date is to pull the crown out and push it back it until it hits the correct date. Then, keep adjusting the time to get the right day to come in. This just doesn't feel right.

I hope I didn't get swindled on this watch. Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    King Gainer

Desmond has a good write-up on the Geneve Dynamic history on his Omega Constellation Collectors blog:

    Re: Omega Geneve Dynamic Question

Read the the info. However, it doesn't really answer my questions regarding hacking and setting the date or day. Nonetheless, it's really interesting info. At the very least, I figured the exact reference number for my watch and the caliber.

It appears to be Ref # ST 166.0079 and caliber number 752.

    Re: Omega Geneve Dynamic Question

I am by no means an expert on the subject but I think the 752 is similar to the 564 movement but included the day display. The 564 has a quick set date feature which works by pulling out the crown to move the date forward.

By the way very nice watch. I just had one cleaned for a relative. It moves the date forward by pulling out the crown. The day is changed by by moving the hour hand forward (no quick change option). It has no hack mechanism.

I own a dynamic day date, and you are right you change the date by pulling the crown all the way out and the day by turning the crown to change the hour until it change the day, it is tricky. But what you have to do is set the day to one day before the current day. Then advance the date to one day before current date, then move the hours so both day and date turn to the right day.date at the same time.

    Re: Omega Geneve Dynamic Question

    Hey Grey17,

Thanks for the info! I'm feeling much better now. I really like this watch! I saw someone a couple months ago showing a pick of his wife's dynamic and was really impressed. Thus, the search started.

Only thing is, the band is a little big for my 7" wrist. I micro-adjusted all the way to the center. The screws seem to be a bit old, so I can't take the links apart. I may bring it to my watch repairman and let him try. That, and save up for a new bracelet from Ofrei. But, I think I'd better take a break after purchasing this baby.

Thanks again for the info ^_^

Hey, nice dynamic you have there, as well! You know, it's just like the article from Desmond stated. This watch just fits well ^_^

I'm hoping to get a lot of wear out of this Omega.
