I doubt.... rolex is more prestigious …. but I would rather go with what I find more attractive.

To the 'general public', no way. To the individual Rolex/Omega owner themselves, that's a personal opinion that probably varies greatly.
I could stop buying watches, but I'm no quitter.

    Rolex Submariner Ceramic ND 114060.
    Grand Seiko SBGN001G GMT.
    Omega Aqua Terra 8500.
    Omega Planet Ocean 8800.
    Omega Speedmaster 1863.

    Casio MRG-8100B-1AJF.
    Casio MRG-7600-1AJF.
    Casio MRG-7700-1AJF.
    Casio GMW-B5000-1ER.
    Casio GW-5000-1AJF.

Just so it's clear: Both Omega & Rolex make approximately 1 million watches per year. Someone posted that Omega makes too many watches. Well... no one can argue that 1 million watches per year is a lot for any company. But Rolex does the same. The difference is the demand. And we see that with the price difference and obviously the waiting lists at the Rolex ADs.

Without that fairytale image, their prices, and sales would plummet.
Patek actually does advertise. They have commercials on the golf channel with their marketing line "you never actually own a Patek Philippe, you merely look after it for the next generation". That being said they do a lot less advertising than Rolex and Omega, especially when it comes to sport sponsorships.

    A google definition of prestige:

widespread respect and admiration felt for someone or something on the basis of a perception of their achievements or quality.

Rolex is very good at generating a perception. Reminds me of a radio ad from our local Rolex ad regarding Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier. The ad stated “while wearing a GMT etc....”. He wasn’t wearing a gmt but to 99.99% of watch buyers that’s irrelevant it simply must be true if an ad stated it. Pure marketing fluff.

If you're worried about prestige in the eyes of the general public you need to trade in your Omega for a Rolex.

Reminds me of the Rolex golf commercial with Tiger Woods. Woods was a TAG man when he was winning big. By the time he got with Rolex his game was/is really close to retirement.

It’s not as prestigious, if only bc 80% of people don’t know who Omega is
