They are definitely a lot more common than the 2220.80 (which only makes sense, as the latter was only made for like 5 years as opposed to like 12-13 years for the 2531?), but their prices seem to have definitely appreciated. IIRC you could find 2531s listed in the low $1000s in posts from even just 2 years ago, and now they're typically listed for sale at closer to $1500-1600 and I'd imagine a good example with papers sells in the mid-$1000s. I'm not an expert, and others on this board can speak to this much more than I can, but at this point I'd attribute it more to the general price increases Omega has put in place that have dragged seemingly everything up rather than any sort of 2531-as-a-collectible shift. Too soon for that, I think - though I tend to agree with those that say it'll happen sooner or later (and Omega getting rid of the wave dial in the SMP might accelerate that process - for me, that was an absolute must-have). In this relative watch n00b's view, the Speedy is the king of them all, but the Bond SMP, specifically the 2531 and to some extent its quartz twin, is the symbol of Omega's resurgence since the mid-'90s.

Very true, but it does seem to have grown an over-sized crown guard to compensate!

I prefer the ceramic version because of the added thickness and bracelet.

I just sent my 2531.80 in for service today. New dial, bezel and hands as well. It's gonna look like a brand new watch!

Would it be a good idea to get 2220.80 hands installed instead of the shorter ones? Thoughts?
I have a blue ceramic SMP (used to have the black 50th anniversary version but recently sold it) and was looking for the last iteration of the black wavy dial (212.30.41.20.01.002). Based on the fact that model is hard to get (few available ones always pretty expensive) decided to buy an old 2531 and do a dial, hands & bezel swap as the 1109 / 1120 / 2500 movements dial and hands are compatible with each other. Project underway!

I misread the title as "manly thickness" and then immediately got confused within the first few posts....

The whole post is shot anyway, since it never uploaded my pics correctly.

I'm not even sure the thickness bothers me so much anymore.

I was thinking of getting the blue dial not so long ago.
