I'm not even sure the thickness bothers me so much anymore.

There is a quality to the AR coated crystal that the older ones cant replicate.

I would say, just my ops, that the SMPc Blue and the Liquid Titanium Blue and the AT Skyfall blue are the BEST Blues out there. I am sure the SMP waves are nice,( I have not seen one in person), but the way the blue lacquered dial is made, it is simple, elegant, sporty, strikingly visual at the same time.:).
    ok..ill hush up now

Correct. You've become like a smp sensai over the years F. Haha. Good on you sir.

I used to own the blue, but I sold it so quickly, I barely got to experience it.

I only have a 2 small gripes with not being completely sold on it, and that is the bracelet is a little much, and the AR on the domed Crystal is scratch prone.

I see! My black one was the one with 007 monogram all over the dial, so obviously the blue dial looks more clean (do miss the 50 marker in red). I might consider a plain black one as think would look superb, but dont think would then keep the blue one if do that

I realize I'm a bit late, but thank you for your write up. Very informative and as I was between eventually adding either the SMPc or the 2531.80, I think I will be leaning more toward the 2531.80 as I've only heard great things about it.

The one and only. There is no substitute.

    2531

This is exactly what I did. I also have the 50, and really enjoy the watch, but I also wanted a clean dial SMPc. I went back and forth between adding the black or blue for (what felt like) ages. I decided that I enjoyed the black so much, that I pulled the trigger on one after getting an exceptional price. The one minor negative for the blue SMPc, for me, is the black background on the date. And by minor, I mean EXTREMELY minor, almost not even an issue.

Now my 50 is in my bank vault, and my black SMPc is on the wrist most days. I don't regret either.

For the SMPc vs 2531.80, it was the SMPc for me hands down. I like and respect the original, but the SMPc just "talks" to me in a way the original does not. One of my best mates has the 2531.80 and wears his most of the time, so I've had ample chance to look at it in person (and try it on). SMPc won, and that's why I own two.
