It was always difficult to tell the difference from photos alone.
You had to see them in your hand and up close to tell them apart.
By the Chrono24 photos posted on here I could tell this one was genuine.
Congrats, it’s one of Omega’s finest.

Did you mean from the photos that I posted?

Also, the photo that you put up, I take it one is real and one is fake?
    Which is which?

It’s difficult from photos, but your photos I could tell it was the real deal, so congratulations on owning a fantastic special edition.

Which one is which in my photo? One is the real deal, but which one? You can have a guess.

I own neither anymore, the limited edition I sold about 4/5 years ago. The replica gave up the ghost last summer!

You get what you pay for!

I’ll have to wait until I get to my computer. I keep looking at the photo of the 2 of them on my phone and just can’t see any glaring differences.

Ok. If I had to choose, I would say the one on the right is fake.

The only signs I can see are:
The Seamaster writing is more orange
The lume in the hands is a bit small.
The numbers on the dial look a bit thick.

What I will say is that the differences are so small that if the angle of the photo was slightly different, or the lighting at a different angle, I might not see it the same way.

Also, after trying to find photos of snide versions to try to check mine, some I have seen look identical to mine.

It just goes to show that the level of replicas (at least on the surface) is improving to the point where a novice like me would be stumped. I’m also sure that the level of visible accuracy differs from fake to fake.

You are correct, the watch on the right is the replica.

I haven’t really studied recent replicas, but I suspect it may be more difficult for the Chinese to replicate due to the Crystal case backs.

The items you mention are probably down to camera and angles as they weren’t the giveaways under close scrutiny.
What gave yours away as a genuine Omega was the numerals on the date wheel. Silver and stand out with a little depth. If you study the difference between left and right you will see that the replica’s numerals on the wheel are slightly more two dimensional.

Open up the case back though and a load of old rubbish would be inside the right watch.

One other giveaway, which requires a keen eye to see in photos, is the construction of the bezel insert. If the light reflections obliterate the numerals, then it’s likely a replica as there isn’t a way to replicate the liquidmetal pressed into ceramic process. In person you can clearly see two distinct materials in genuine bezel, with subtle brushed but smooth to the touch finish on the liquidmetal, whereas a replica bezel’s surface is a uniform reflection.

Well, I arrived back in Blighty yesterday and collected the watch. I am very pleased to say that all checks out.
I have studied in close detail the numbers on the date wheel to see how raised they are. I also closely examined the liquid metal numbers on the dial and can confirm that they are definitely a duller metal finish than the ceramic dial. This is quite hard to pick up on photos.

Here’s a quick shot on a cold day with an industrial background in east London.

Thanks solesman. Not sure about the shot though.

Maybe I’ll start a thread showing watches with industrial backgrounds.

I can’t wait to get back home to Spain. It’s effing freezing here!

I’ll take a couple of pics of it in the sun when I get back.
