Poll: Black Dial Watches with Date Windows

When you buy a black dial watch with a date feature, which do you prefer?

    1) A white background with black numbers
    2) A black background with white numbers

I look at this in two ways. I think it's easier to read a white window with black numbers (like the Rolex Sea Dweller). However, I think a black window with white numbers (like the Planet Ocean) blends with the dial and gives the watch a "cleaner" look. You have to look harder to see the date on the Planet Ocean, while the date window "jumps out at you" on the Sea Dweller.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks,
    John

    Depends on the dial design.

On the Sea-dweller, the white background of the date indicator is sized and shaped close enough to the 9 index marker that it gives the dial a symmetrical appearance. If the sea dweller were to use a black background, I think it would'nt be as aesthetically pleasing as it would destroy the balance.

On the other hand, I could'nt imagine my B&R Space 1 having a white day & date background, which IMHO would destroy the balanced appearance of the dial design.

I wished the PO had the window outlined in white along with the 2254 SMP, they are not the most easy to see in certain light. It's about the only knock I've had on the watch.

I would not have bought my PO with a white date window

I'll take a black date window any day of the week over a white one.

I vote for black background/white numbers.

I don't mind a white background if no choice, but I like black backgrond/white no.'s since it blends in with the black dial.

It may not "pop" out, but do I really want that? Popping out usually means "too much". Either way, I don't mind using a fraction of a second longer to read a black background/white number combo
