According to Archer, these watches are inspected by an 'unaided' eye at a distance of 30 cm. (If I remember correctly). If the imperfection cannot be seen, it's within Omega tolerances.
'We' just look too closely at these watches, I'm terrible for it. I don't know why I do it, I really don't.
Whenever I look at my watches with a loupe, I find something, I wish I hadn't seen!

I feel for the OP and would push Omega to make it right. Give them a chance here. I find you get further if you are nice about the situation and go in with a good attitude rather than hot under the collar making demands. Warranties are offered for a reason because these are mechanical devices and hand assembled. The end link looks like a manufacturing defect resulting in damage to the case. At a min, I would think Omega would replace the defective end link and fix the case. If the case cannot be fixed, either through polishing or adding additional metal and polishing, I would request they replace the case. Easy enough for Omega to do this for you. Good luck with it and let us know how things turn out. I believe Omega will come through for you.

IMHO, polishing out that mark is not the same as polishing the whole case in the sense that it would have no effect on value. Even if a slight mark is left, that is in fact normal. All 3 of my Omegas have slight marks where the bracelet end links touch the case - long term there is some rubbing action, even with a properly assembled end link.

must be a unit conversion error then, as in Portugal, watches are inspected by an 'unaided' eye at a distance of 30 miles

really, it's a freak show down here, and my PO's due for a revision,
I'm thinking of just taking a sledge hammer and a drill to it myself and save some money.
what's worse, it's been going on for way too long for omega Swiss not to be perfectly aware

    very much so,
and I was fortunate to have known them at a very young age, so, a 'forming years' band,
and, because of it being also the name of the German school, they are largely responsible for other tastes I aquired.
Peter Murphy lives here, and now David J's around all the time, I've been getting a chance I never thought I would

    Great band!
I saw them a number of times in the 1980's and have quite a lot of their albums too.

gigs in foreign countries in the 80’s were a bit past my curfew, I'm from 78,
which is why this half reunion has been such a big thing for me.
I've actually been pretty lucky getting opportunities to see many post punk and bat-cave bands, considering where I live and that I was hardly a teenager when most died out,
but, except for those who literally died, and carefully avoiding those who, buy now, are just sad, I've done great
