    Re: Potential 2020 Watch Acquisitions

    I've been been a fan of the snowflake hands on Tudor, but with the BB58 they kinda work. It's got a great size and shape to it and scratches a classic vintage diver look in one go. Three years of successive price increases from Rolex now. £6300 for a 114060. Bonkers!

    Ouch, just saw the new pricing. Gone up by around 10%!

    Bit of luck, I'll have it by March or April, maybe. This year, though, is more about thinning out the collection a little. I have a few watches that don't get much time on the wrist.

    And, if my saving plan goes well enough, maybe a 1960s vintage Rolex 6694 or 1500 model;

    And then hopefully, I'll never look at any other watches. Man, that sentence was hard to type with my fingers crossed.

    If blue is your colour and it suits your wardrobe then blue it should be. Particularly if this will be part of an existing collection

    For me, I really, really want to get a Seamaster Diver 300 this year. I'm still on the fence between the blue and black dial options though. Blue is my colour, and would go with the majority of my wardrobe, but the black is just so sharp...

    I'm guessing the fact your a serious Bond fan the Spectre draws you the most. Quite a premium on the pre owned market for the Spectre LE. They don't seem to be selling though. A firm offer of £6350+ may tempt a seller. As you know, I had the Spectre, but the giant Omega logo ruined it. The classic would be the route to go and use the extra money saved for a holiday to wear your new 300 on or put it towards something else?

    If you didn't bite when buying duty free then I agree its not that likely.

    Which watch did your son wind up buying?

I have seen pictures of the new blue one, but not in the flesh and felt so-so. Michael here owned a black pre-owned for a while, but it wasn’t a keeper for him. However, I enjoyed the new watch buying buzz vicariously (?) with my son this week and it made me tempted again so who knows.

    He had been to the boutique previously and tried on a few models. He had also discussed methods of payment and decided how he wanted to do it (might not have been my choice, but it wouldn’t cost any more and spread the payments suiting him and his salary). I think I was primarily there for moral support, but managed to negotiate nearly 10% discount and made a contribution to the initial payment. He had chosen the Dark Side of the Moon and seems over the moon with the quality and detail. The world is crazy though as I had to wait until 40 to get my first Omega at a fraction of the cost.

    Personally it will probably be an AT for me. If I can find one FFS

    This year plan is to thin the herd / consolidate in less number of pieces. Like you Dan looking at the 8500 AT, but in my case it would be the Good Planet Ti version:

    As you know toying with the idea of a custom Ti Skyfall but first a few pieces need to find a new home!

    Well, I'd really like this. But me liking, and getting, are two very different things......so says the wife.

    If my ship comes in (highly possible) I intend to spring for the new Citizen Model 100. Purportedly accurate to + or - 1 second a day!!!
    Just the watch for an accuracy freak like me.
    After 40 years of moving both freight and passenger trains down the track, accuracy became vitally essential.
