    Pre-owned sellers from Japan

I've noticed there are a lot of them, particularly on eBay, and most selling at lower prices. Curious, anyone know why and are there particular ones you've had a good experience with?

Japan has a huge watch market for Omega, supposedly #1 in the world, which is why there are so many Limited Editions made only for Japan. The Omegas I see online are usually somewhat above market prices, unless the watch is horribly disfigured or missing box/papers. Not sure where you're seeing the bargains.

Really? The ones on eBay from Japan are generally a lot cheaper than US sellers.

I’ve just bought a Bond Seamaster Quartz NOS (the blue waved dial with red letters) from a Japanese seller. Still had the stickers on, and it’s a 10 years old watch! Very, very happy with my purchase... the box was already started to deteriorate, but I really don’t care. The price was better than similar WUS listings for a spotless piece...

I have purchased a few Omega's from Japanese sellers a few hundred better than typical selling prices. Also, I have had no problems with the condition or seller.

Bought my first Omega from Japan as well. Got a good price but that was 10 years ago.

There is some discussion of this in the AT/RM photo thread and the feedback re: buying from elady seems to be quite positive.

Omegas a very popular in Japan. The Japanese like their luxury items and tend to take good care of their stuff. Also the culture is also one of uniformity...if one member of a group gets an Omega the others tend to also get one. Then when the mood shifts the Omega gets sold to fund the next luxury item.

If you've ever been to Tokyo's shopping districts you'll see just how much quality second hand luxury items can be found. If you do your due diligence on the seller and are comfortable then go for it.

Check out sabashioyakiz1. I've bought numerous watches from him and they're always solid.

ELady seems good, but they often look a bit over polished.

Finally "closer0924" always seems to have a great stock of used and NOS.
    Kind Regards,

Polishing is the main thing to watch for. The Japanese market puts a premium on condition, and many watches are polished to remove surface scratches and such. The bigger sellers tend to have lots of photos, so it's easy enough to spot that with some practice.

Most of them have solid return policies, but it can be expensive to return a watch to Japan.

In general, I find the Japanese seller prices very competitive.
