    Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial a worthy upgrade?

I have a Seamaster Professional 2254.50 I bought in 2009 to mark a point in time of my career, this will be my 10 years owning the watch, it has been my daily workhorse everyday but sometimes I rotate with Speedy Pro 3572.50, I recently like the look of Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial steel version , I have a few questions :
    1. Do you guys think is it a worthy upgrade to the seamaster professional? I'm considering to sell mine and invest in a new Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial, but the 2254.50 is a classic now
    2. Any idea why the Seamaster 300 is missing the Professional wording on the case? Is it something to do with the missing helium escape valve?
    3. The steel ring in between the front sapphire crystal and bezel, is it easy to scratch?

    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Chris

    Personally I'd keep the 2254.50

Keep the 2254.50. Not only is it a classic but I've found that when I purchase a watch to commemorate a life event, career achievement, etc., it's harder to part with. I can't speak for others, but I know I'd miss a watch if I got rid of it when it was purchased to mark a point in time. If you're really lusting after the Seamaster 300, start putting a little money away regularly and you'll be able to have both eventually.

I couldnt imaging selling a watch that I'd worn every day for 10 years knowing that I'd get relatively little in return for it and losing the emotional connection I might have with it.

The new SMP is outstanding. My daily wear for 6+ months. I love it more than I thought I might. And I csn see dhy Omega raised its price. But I would not sell a watch that I owned for that long and wore so often to offset the cost. That's my opinion.

Firstly I would go try on the Seamaster 300. Not once, but several times. IMHO it's a more than worthy upgrade but it's a much different aesthetic to the 2254.50. If you fancy the vintage appeal and it feels good on the wrist then go for it and don't look back.

I’d also keep your 2254 - those are cool, love the sword hands.

I'd keep the 2254. They're extremely distinctive and going up in value at this point (or at least not losing value). If you want the 300, it'd be best as an additional watch since it's a very different aesthetic than the 2254.

    I have a 2264 (a relatively recent acquisition).

I've "upgraded" it with the addition of an adjustable clasp to the bracelet.

These watches, sword hands and wave dial, are classics and worth keeping.

That being said, no reason that prevents the addition of other watches you like.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. Any idea if Omega not using the term Professional in their 300 master co-axial models?

I agree 2254 is still a pretty model to look at. its a shame if I let this go, will reconsider my decision :)

Re: Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial a worthy upgrade?

Cant go wrong with either watch but your current watch is now harder to get than the MC so if there is any regret at all it won't be easy to get one back. I did a similar thing a few years ago with my SMP (electric blue). After a year or so I really missed it and it took me years to find another one in decent condition with history etc so you need to be 100% sure you wont miss it. You will also spot the price of yours one day and shudder. I paid around £1100 for mine and they're selling for £2000+ and climbing so be prepared for that moment of regret. Have you tried on the 300MC? if not, its definitely a watch you need to try on. I really love all versions of that watch. Theres a titanium and blue version which is particularly stunning but I just can't wear them due to the shape of the case and long lugs. They dont sit on my wrist properly. You may be fine but you certainly dont want to wave off your current faithful to find it doesn't sit right on your wrist. Best of luck choosing your next watch
