    Skyfall Product Placement

That ...........lingerrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiingggggggg....... shot from the pre-credits....... (above). Do you think Omega paid some extra money this time round, because the camera lingers just a little more than necessary on this occasion? Just saying.

Article on product placement for your interest, if you are interested. I don't believe there are any spoilers here, but if you get off on not knowing what beer or whisky Bond will be drinking, then don't read it.

That was a good effort by Omega. I definitely noticed the lllliiiiinnnngggeeerrrriiiinnnngggg shot. That was ace.

Also noticed what looked like Omega posters mounted on the wall in the tube station too. Nice touch if they were.

I think Heiniken were done over though. Before reading your post I just couldn't remember Heiniken being featured in the movie.

Re: Skyfall Product Placement - Beware strong language used!

Well I can't remember going to a film where there were 3 adds before it, advertizing goods that are going to be "in" the film, and using long segments of the film you are about to see, just to further ram the idea in you brain.
Sorry, even as an Omega lover I thought the idea was....pardon my less than Bond parlance......crap.
I appreciate adds are the unavoidable evil that makes the world spin round, but there was enough "adverts" in the film without the need to put a cherry on top of it.
Can't wait too see the DVD extras on Skyfall - probably 5 hours of adds covering all the products in the film.
Oh yes, I enjoyed the film after calming down!

I think Kaner's post speaks volumes, and for many, They can spend 45 mil and we don't even notice the product in the film. Not a bad thing, you're not there for that. Obviously some of that money was to pay Craig for the TV ad on the train, but it's still a stupid amount of money. I'd love to know what they get back, profit wise, after that lay-out, same as Omega, but we'll never know, a) how much, and b) if it's related to Bond.

I knew my SMP was "the bond watch" but I honestly didn't care when deciding to purchase it. It's just a quality piece regardless of the product placement.

Before my time, but wasn't there a bond product placement for AMC or some car brand back in the day....don't see them around today so that wasn't money well spent :)

Did anyone notice the white Bose speakers inside the boat? I thought they looked way too obvious.

I think it is a guaranteed that every bond movie will have a number of threads and blogs about product placement

    Re: Skyfall Product Placement

There's been long/lingering shots of every product placement watch in each Bond film that's had one. It's nothing new. In most, though, the watch was a gadget of some sort. Look up Bond watches, or watches in movies, and you'll see screen caps of all the "lingering" watch shots in Bond films.

    Re: Skyfall Product Placement

In my opinion in Skyfall Omega did a very subtle job with the watch/advertisement placing. We are all Omega enthusiasts here and through the entire movie we are subconsciously waiting for a "wrist slip" of sorts. So when bonds wrist is clearly visible for a few seconds (in the tractor/train scene) we gobble it up. When in reality, a nonwatch enthusiasts probably didn't think twice about it. As i already said, compared to some other Bond film's this one was quite subtle. What comes to mind is when Omega overdid it in Casino Royal in the notorious dinner scene. "What a beautiful watch... Rolex?... Omega." Yikes
