    Speedmaster 38 - 324.30.38.50.01.001 - The new Reduced?

    Hi everyone,

I always wanted to have a Speedmaster. Sadly my wrists are too small to sport a Professional. I tried it on multiple times but it simply does look just too big and hangs over my wrist.

The Reduced was therefore always something interesting to me, however after 2 "Vintage"/Second Hand Watches (IWC Mark XV and a 1976 Omega Genève); I am looking for a new model.

On the Omega Homepage, I found the Ref.Nr. 324.30.38.50.01.001 in 38mm which would most-likely would suit my small wrists much better.
Does anyone have any familiarity with this watch? Is the SM 38mm recommendable?
How does it sit on the wrist compared to the Pro / 39.7mm special editions? Sadly I was not able to find it in any boutique yet.

    Thank you!

I'm a big Omega fan and I wasn't familiar with this model. I think it looks great and most certainly would fit a smaller wrist since it's 38mm. Another option would be the Speedmaster FOIS which is around 39mm but only comes with a brown strap, no bracelet.

The FOIS and Speedie have a similar lug to lug so I don't think that'd solve his problem.

That ref you sent does look like a modernized version of the Reduced. It's a little bit less of a direct Speedmaster design than the 3150.50, though, so keep that in mind if you love the classic Pro look.

Well first up as a Reduced owner I can tell you that you would not be disappointed with the watch if you bought one from a reputable source. They are pricey to get serviced though. $750 via Omega. I don’t think you should shy away just because they are used.

If you are still not convinced the FOIS does fit very close to the Reduced. But is thicker. As far as other options I really love the 40mm Speedy Racing available in many colors on the Omega site. If it wasn’t for the darn date window I would already own a white or red.

I love the Speedmaster Pro and maybe that is why I've never felt attraction for other versions.
That small bezel and those hugh subdials, I don't know..

Might I suggest the 2nd gen Speedy reduced? They bare the closest resemblance to the Speedy Pro while offering a smaller, thinner profile and an automatic movement.

i happen to own this ref so hopefully i can help you out. i've always loved Speedmasters and think this is a nice refresh on a classic. i'm new to the watch game so not an expert by any means but haven't had any issues with it so far and find that it keeps good time. i have a smaller wrist as well (<7 inches) and think its a perfect size. happy to answer any other questions as best i can

EDIT: this shot is really up close and doesn't picture as well as i thought lol i will try to post better pictures later
