Thoughts on how accurate this refinished 70s to 80s Seamaster (Ref 166.0216 ??) dial is - THANKS!

    Hi All!

I am in the market for a vintage (70s to 80s) Seamaster and quite like the old cases and bracelets. I've found a good deal on this watch (I think ref 166.0216) off the bay and it has been confirmed by the seller that the dial has been overhauled, polished, repainted for aesthetics. I'm not hugely concerned over this as it has been clearly stated and I wanted a second watch for daily wear to give my vintage Rolex Datejust some rest.

I've attached some pics and would appreciate your feedback on how accurate everything looks. Please let me know. FWIW the purchase is in the ~$500 range. I'd be happy to pay ~$700 - 800 for something super authentic if I could find it.

    All thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Script looks a little slanted to me. I'd pass.

The condition of the movement is always more important than the condition of the dial. How does the movement look?

Yes, and they look to close to tell. However it is also very difficult to know if the originals are originals.

On Ebay I see a lot of these 70's - 80's redials from Korea. I worry about most is the movement, as you can see in the date window, the background is yellowed - this is very common on Korean refurbished Omega listings on Ebay. Who knows what the state of the mechanicals is. But at $500, it makes for a fun 2nd watch that I myself would consider.
