Re: Vintage Omega Constellations - Let's See Yours!

I just purchased this model which is movt 712, ref 167.021, "super thin" constellation from the late 60's. I love this model and just discovered it. It is an automatic but it is extremely thin, thinner and lighter than the quartz constellations. I am amazed and it is so comfortable I hardly ever take it off since getting it (to shower or swim).

The above pics don't do it justice! The dial is a beautiful light silver color which just looks white in the pics.

A zoom in of a "hand on the wheel" pic. Can't help but feel a Genta vibe on this reference. The alternating brushed and polished finishes on the integrated bracelet are quite stunning. Definitely one of my favorite constellations!

It's reference 168.0062 - 368.0855. Movement is the Omega 1011. It came in a few different variations but always with this fantastic integrated bracelet. Some will have a black dial. There's also a two-tone versions of this reference. Mine is stainless steel with a subtle champagne dial that often looks silver. It's hard to notice, but there's also a very slight gold bezel around the crystal to help warm up the overall tone of the watch. It's really a fantastic piece. I know there's lots of enthusiasm for the pie pans, and I absolutely agree with the excitement. However, this is my favorite constellation.

I usually don't like the two tone watches but this has just a highlight of gold which works great. I think the square/tank omegas also look very classy but a bit rugged as well... just the impression I get. I've only been collecting for a few years but I find I am always drawn to Omegas. Their designs are varied, interesting and almost always well executed. I am also always impressed with the engineering, accuracy and durability of their vintage pieces. They are the watches I find myself just wanting to ogle.

I had a quick question if any of you might know... I bought the above 712 for daily wear and so picked up one that was discounted and a bit abused bc I didnt want to worry about doing damage to it. I actually like the fact that the second hand is silver and the hour and minute hands are black but do you think this is actually the way it came from omega? I see mainly all hands of the same color with Omega. Just curious, as I said its for wearing not for remaining perfectly original. I also see that Omega usually replaces the hands anyway when getting service done.

Working as good as when it was new.....a few scars it got, over time....but they are superficial....one could polish them out...but I can't be bothered...after all, I played my role in putting them in....
