If its new, maybe the gaskets are still causing too much friction which will eventually wind easier soon.

I was very worried at first when I got my speedy home and felt that its kinda tight to wind compared to others and read somewhere in this forum that its just normal due to new gaskets.

Had mine since new for about 3 months. It is definitely getting easier to wind.

Would wearing a rubber or latex glove help?

Maybe it can help avoid fingerprints, haven't tried it myself though. A cloth or your shirt may do...

Mine was very difficult to wind at first. Over a few months it became much easier.

Re: Watch crown winder for Speedmaster?

I'm about 8 months into owning my Speedy, and winding is finally getting to be easy. I'm sure it's loosened up some over time, and maybe I've just gotten used to winding it, but it's gone from being something that made me think about selling it to something that I no longer think about. But I'm glad to know about the crown winder because way down the road my fingers might not work so well and it will be good to have a way to wind and keep wearing my Speedy.

I'm sure not that many people know about crown winders.
    I've made a video:

I had this problem which annoyed me so much I got rid of my Speedmaster. I had a crown winder but it kept slipping off the shallow crown.
