Awesome watch but just a touch out of my price range. Maybe one will pop up somewhere sub 2000 (likely not, but my fingers are crossed)

About six years ago or more there were some Seiko models on the market still that were not Grand Seiko (some of the first Spring Drive watches), regular Seiko branding and were available for around $1,500 new old stock, long gone now. There is a Seiko model called the Transocean with the movement, this one is used and I have dealt with the seller twice before. It's used though looks to be in good shape, make him in an offer within your budget and see what he can do (his first name is Evan).

As mentioned above, and a better price (they charge about $30 for EMS shipping), dealt with them as well, very good Japan dealer.

If you are willing to go used, SD tuna, SD landmaster and Transocean models can be found for around the 2k mark.
