Half the people on these forums dont mod - Maybe 1% (excluding those into swapping out straps)

I have never got the whole 'mod thing' - but each to their own - I have an SLA025 and its a super watch with a distinct and awesome aesthetic
If you can create something of that for a few hundred dollars built round a 775, then go for it. Nice project, personalised watch, and a homage at 15% of the original's & reissue's cost.

How about this DLW bezel insert?

This is the most I’d do:
    - double dome sapphire with blue AR
    - aftermarket bezel insert with gold indices
    - replace the bracelet with a chocolate bar from Uncle

If you really like the SLA025 it might be better to just set aside some money each month towards an “SLA025 fund” and pounce on one as soon as one is available after you’ve saved enough. There’s simply no comparison, although a modded gilt turtle is also a beautiful watch.

Just go on ebay and search for Sharkey. (Heimdallr is another brand - but they don't seem as good).

Modding a Seiko Turtle is sacrilege. IMO.
Modding a Seiko is sacrilege but buying a "knock-off" (as you put it) isn't? I'm failing to understand the logic in that personally.
