    Fake SARB017 Alpinist

Watchout for the ebay bargains for this discontinued model.

Left is fake, right is real thing.

For me the easiest to notice is:
    - glossy Seiko logo on the dial,
    - shape and size of the dial indicies,
    - dial color (tho, a dial reference number is "00H1 R 2" which was used in the real Alpinist),
    - gold frame around a date window,
    - both crowns are prety different when you have a closer look.

    Correct.

Buy from reputable dealers, like LiW or Amazon ,(SOLD by Amazon, not by a third party seller at Amazon).

And BTW, Seiya is the only place which said thus watch was GOING TO be discontinued, not that it was discontinued already.

Given that Marc at LIW has already shown his stock of SARBs having prod dates well after that announcement, shows that they are still in production.

In the pic, the right one looks fake to me.

I bought mine from a reputable source and it looks exactly like the one on the right. Maybe it is a timing thing? SARB017 has been around for like 20 years right? Could the left one be an early run? Modern ones definitely have a lot more gold definition around the date window and bolder text. Also the flat logo.

    Don't know about the movement.
The video I just saw on youtube, do not even know that guy.
A second watch was bought by a buddy of mine, he returned the watch without opening it.
Both watches from ebay, both no box no papers.
