turtle, sea turtle sounds fine for me. excalibur just okay, but why is this citizen called excalibur? hands do not really look like a sword and i could not get the reference.

No idea. Somebody just pick it up and sticks right away. no explanation or whatsoever found.

But somehow, that sharp looks on the dial probably make some sense on naming it after a sword.

    Daikatana.

    Not bad.

this is it guys. this is the one. Memento vivere nailed it.

    DAIKATANA!

Its known as Excalibur because of the striking orange minute hand that is all.

Calling the Turtle (or Sea Turtle) "Excalibur" is only going to confuse things

It doesn't matter cos we could always call it the Seiko Excalibur instead of just Excalibur. Anyway it looks to me it'll eventually be called Turtle when the time comes.

Daikatana is not a word, but a video game shares this title. It doesn't work in Japanese either. The kanji you would use to make it is read "Daito". A Katana is a type of sword with standard(ish) dimensions. Katana doesn't mean "sword". Bigger than that is just called something else. Wakizashi are usually carried by Samurai also and are smaller than Katana but made the same way. Nihonto are Japanese swords and those contain Katana, Tanto, Wakizashi, etc.

Daito = Long(big) Sword. Katana and Tachi are both Daito. Japanese swords are classified by length.

Odachi, Nodachi, Jin Tachi are the Longest type.

edit: If you wanted to say it was a larger Katana you could call it Okatana. The O prefix designates a larger katana or Kokatana would be a smaller katana.

Also, Squirtle is a well known Pokemon...

As I'm a Japanese speaker, you should know that your suggestions make no sense in Japanese. Gorudo is not Japanese and is English. Colors in Japanese are thing + color usually. Gold is Kiniro which translates as Gold color. Kin = gold (the metal) and iro is color. IE Light blue is Mizuiro which translates to water color. Some colors like Blue and Red have single kanji. Blue = Ao and red = Aka.

Japanese doesn't directly translate to English very easily. EX Aka = red, and chan is an honorific suffix meaning cute, small. Akachan as one word means baby. Babies are born red and are cute. Kin = Gold, Youbi = Day (of the week), Kinyoubi = Friday. Makes some sense if you step back because Friday is usually pay day.

Firstly "Ōban" has more than one meaning and meaning usually is contextually derived without reading the Kanji. Ōban is a type of paper and in the Tokugawa era, Ōban was also money. Different kanji. With that said "Great Watch" doesn't apply to time whatsoever. The word for "watch" in Japanese is Tokei, which actually translates to Clock. If fact, wall clocks and wristwatches share the same word. Watch, in the context that it's used in Japanese is akin to "guard". IE The Nights Watch in Game of Thrones is neither an evening clock or people that specifically watch the night.

Scute the large, separate scales on the carapace and plastron of most turtles. Also see S.C.U.T.E known as South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts. A link to their website, South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts
