Looks like someone over on SCWF is now selling the gold and blue versions (those w/ steel bracelets) for $350 + $30 shipping to the US, and the black and Pepsi versions (w/ rubber straps) for $320 + $30 shipped to the US. A bit of a markup from the $230 your friend paid!

The dealer which my friend got his from only has the 777 and 779 available for international shipping at the moment. I think the strap models are around 210 USD.

To me the name "turtle" is a bit of a slight to the watch. That name originated, as far as I know, from ebay sellers selling chopped versions with aftermarket parts of the 6309. My vote is (and I'm not sure if it's been suggested) is to name it "Abyss" after the movie The Abyss because the main character wore a venerable 6309 throughout. :)

I like the Philippine's nickname: 'Pagong' (turtle in the local lingo, seeing as though they got it first). Not sure if it has been suggested yet cos this thread is too long to read.

i have not acquired the new turtle hence no right to named them.

Maybe we should take a vote to ask first person who own turtle in this forum ( which we can trace by timestamp ) named it.

then nobody can argue a thing!
