    Is this seiko legit?

Hello, Seiko noob here. Have just been offered what the seller claims is a 6119-5000,

Just wondering what the experts here think?

Yes, its an indian seller. Says he can't open the back to show the movement due to lack of tools.

    Wants $65.

Can't or does not want to show the movement.

To open these requires a small flat bladed screwdriver.

He has though polished it to within an inch of its life.

What we can see looks genuine and it's cheap as per all India watches...me I would pass it by just cos he does not show the movement.

Cropped 1969 picture showing the DX version which is much the same bar a little dial text. It could also be the 6106 movement model (white date dial). The 6119 will have a black date dial as you show.

The bracelet looks genuine as well.

Don't EVER buy a Seiko from someone in India. You have been warned...

I’d also pass since he won’t show the movement. The rest isn’t spectacular enough to even out that risk for me. Some of the dial markers look crooked and I myself wouldn’t buy a polished watch, but of course that’s a personal preference.

I would throw $65 at it. If it gives you a year or two of satisfaction, it’ll be worth the price!

Not sure if it’s genuine but to my eyes it looks a little tatty.

indian seller = avoid. every seiko I saw from eBay sold from india looked clearly fakey on the pictures. But this is a vintage model, so it may be original. But if you wanna stay safe side just avoid it.

    +1
I've seen "restored" watches like that. The case is polished to the point that it looks fake with so much metal removed. The movement, which at some point that could've been saved by a competent watchmaker, is ruin by whatever fluid/oil they used to make it tick just enough to call it "running."

A watch with dirty, scratched case is actually a better watch to get. It was put away in a drawer a long time ago so it's less likely have been tampered with.
