    Aquis Clipperton in stealth mode

So my Clipperton has been starting to show some wear lately on the polished areas due it being my almost daily desk diver. Instead of trying to polish all the scratches/dull areas out I figured it was time to try and turn the Clipperton into my true daily wear watch by brushing all those polished surfaces. I used an "ultrafine" 3m pad and just worked in the direction of the other brushed areas. Attempted to take the bezel off, but to whoever said if you lift and pull it just "pops off" must have much stronger hands than I do.

Overall I really like the look. My one gripe, and it wasn't even really a gripe, was that the polished bracelet and lugs made it look a bit more blingy than I wanted. Now it looks a little more toolish, with the exception of that crazy blue face and the glossy bezel. Business on the bottom, party on top! Time for phase two...a true adjustable clasp mechanism that retrofits into the stock clasp housing with no permanent modifications. 3d models are in progress and it looks promising.

Re the “blingy” look. I’ve seen a brushed Aquis that was done far coarser than yours and your Clipperton looks far superior.

It's funny; when I bought my Staghorn, the bracelet that came with it was completely satin-finished. I said something to the AD about it, how that had to be some kind of mistake, and he showed me promotional pictures of the Staghorn with a satin-finished bracelet...yet still with polished lugs.

    Oris is occasionally weird.

EDIT: Oh, and I would be interested in hearing more about your adjustable clasp.

    Regards,

You did a great job! I do like the blingy polished links on my Cliperton though - they compliment the shiny bezel. But I get where you're coming from - it's not for everyone.

Regarding the adjustable clasp, hoping to have something ready for 3d printing in the next month or so. It's the ONLY thing that bugs me about the Aquis, the lack of adjustability of the bracelet clasp. I went crazy in true WIS fashion last year and was buying and flipping all over. After a few Omegas, some microbrands, Stowas, Seikos, etc. the Clipperton is the only one that made it all the way through the year without getting kicked out the door. Even had it boxed up ready for sale twice and just couldn't do it. Everything I bought ended up being compared to it and found lacking. If I can fix the adjustable clasp issue, I'll be in heaven!

The real challenge has been coming up with a way to make it adjustable that doesn't require drilling or modifying the OE clasp in any way while still being easy to use. Been through probably 20 different configurations and there were too many compromises. I think I finally got it though, if I can find the right spring.

Man, talk about first world problems.

I have the exact same wedding ring. I know because I lost mine after 10 years a few months ago and had to replace. Tried on off blue nice and nope, not an *exact* match. So, went back to the jeweler I got it from and spent 2x as much to get this one. Also your watch looks nice lol

I really like satin/brushed cases and bracelets. I wish they were more common.

You did a good job of brushing your Aquis Clipperton and giving it a more toolish look. Enjoy the fruits of your labour.
