Aquis Rubber Strap, a Cautionary Tail

Soo I'd heard of people trimming the long end (tail?) of their aquis' rubber strap to keep it from wrapping so far around the their wrist (underneath the short end of the strap). I figured I'd give this a try, what a mistake! Now the end where I made the cut jabs into my wrist and makes the strap super uncomfortable for me : (((( I'm going to try smoothing out the end with a Dremel and taperi t down a bit to see if that makes it more comfortable, but we'll see.

Thankfully I have a spare rubber strap, but it's still kinda annoying to have ruined a $100+ piece of rubber : (( oh well you living and learn.

Just wanted to pass this along incase anyone else was considering doing this. My wrist is slightly under 7.5 inches I think.

It will be living on the orange strap again for awhile.

You won't be disappointed if that decision. I love both of them.

One thing I like about ChrisWard is they offer XS version of most their straps, at no additional charge when purchasing the watch. I hope more brands will do this.

People often say that Oris bracelets can hold their own against Omega. Well IMO they are as good as anything on the market.
Take it easy with the Dremel as one false move can do a lot of damage.

Interesting, I thought about doing this very same thing with mine because I didn't like the comfort of the excess rubber tail. I didn't do it and sold the watch instead. Tried the steel bracelet but it was too heavy, not really a bracelet guy for this reason. Just don't like the lug design on the Oris Aquis as I like to change up straps, like the new dial design though!

Try putting the cut end of your rubber strap in boiling water to soften the end. Once it is more pliable, try working that end in the opposite direction or placing it between two heavier items to make it curl in the opposite direction so it doesn't dig into your wrist. Just give it a try. Can't hurt.

Well of course you're going to have a sharp edge on the rubber when you cut it! You don't have to go through any elaborate experiments. All you have to do is take a piece of sandpaper and gradually work down the sharp edge until it's comfortable. Easy. Works great.
