Dating Oris Models; Any surefire way to pinpoint a particular year?

I recently purchased my first Oris timepiece, a Big Crown Original Pointer Date; I haven't been able to find much information online regarding it, and I know for a fact that my particular piece is not a recent release. I've been trying to get a ballpark date on it, and from what I've gathered it's very difficult to date them using the reference numbers, etc. Anyone have any theories or ideas? Thanks guys!

(Below is a photo of my Oris, on a "James Bond" Paratrooper Strap from CheapestNatoStraps.com, (My apologies for the size of the photo, still getting used to utilizing the forums on a desktop..)

Very easy to date an Oris watch based on the serial #, at least one that was made in the last 20 or so years. The first 2 digits in the serial # tell you the year of manufacture.

    28-12345 is 2008
    29-12345 is 2009
    35-12345 is 2015
    and so on

Mine is 32..so 2012 I'm guessing? I knew it was an older model but to find it in new condition with no previous owners is very nice! Glad to know how old it is! Thank you for the information.

Interesting ! Mine's a 36. It was bought, brand new, in 2019. So it's been in the sales queue (I don't know how long it takes to get to its first AD) for that long ? Interesting.

Great looking "2012" Oris pointer date watch. And thanks for asking the question about Oris' dating process. Enjoy your new Oris.

My Aquis 39.5 has a serial number starting with 37 so it was made in 2017? Interesting........
