My first Oris...and my first real watch

    Hey folks,

Thirteen years ago the battery in my Fossil Quartz watch died. I was on the way out of the company I was working for at the time and heading to graduate school. I threw the watch away, and haven't worn one since. It was more a symbolic move for me than anything else. In the past few years, and as a person who is into nice things, I've had a growing interest in watches. A few weeks ago I was visiting with some customers at a fancy club in NY and was noticing their watches--Tissot, Oris, Breitling, Rolex. One of my friends recommended that I consider Oris as an entry point.

Over the past few weeks I've done a fair bit of research and picked up a cheaper Rodina automatic fashioned after the Nomos Tangente...but that just took me deeper. The watch doesn't arrive until next week. I ended up continuing my search and located what seemed like a good price on a basic Oris BC3 Day Date. It is on its way to me now and I'm really excited to receive it.

One question for you Oris enthusiasts: it is missing a few links in the SS bracelet. I posted to the WTB section, but wondered if you all knew of a place where I could pick up an extra few links. I'd be really grateful for any help or advice to this end.

overall, it's been informative to read through posts here at WUS and am looking forward to participating more in the future.

    My best.

Unless you are lucky enough to get some off the Bay (you'll proably need to buy the full bracelet) see if your local AD or the service centre in your country can help you out.

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I'm really looking forward to getting it. I'm hoping to find some spare links if someone has extras. If not, I'll contact an AD and see about individual links if they are available. I'll be getting a leather strap too, so I'll have that to wear while I'm locating more links for the stock band.

I just contacted my local AD and they can measure and order individual links with no problem. I'll head down on Monday and get it taken care of. Thanks for the advice!

I just got home after a trip and the Oris was waiting for me. Since it came without the usual extra links, I didn't expect it to fit. But I was pleasantly surprised that it did. I really like it.

Yup, my Oris TT1 was the gateway watch to this obsession.

    Congrats on a nice piece!
