    servicing grey market oris?

Looking into past posts, it seems Oris is one of those brands whose service center will not touch grey market watches even if it is for a cost? Is that true? There seems to be a lot of online sources selling Oris watches (not as an authorized retailer- so warranty card unstamped)- that seems to kill the deal if it cant be sent for servicing after 4-6 years.

That's the case in Australia. You need to prove you have purchased through an AD to be eligible for servicing through Oris or supplied parts if needed. That's what Oris AU have told me directly.

Not a big deal for any good watchmaker.

The language on their website appears to support this claim, specifically this part:

"Any watch that does not have its serial number or that is not accompanied with the Oris Warranty Card provided by the authorised retailer at the time of purchase will not be recognised by Oris or any of its service centers."

As long as it has the serial number, they'll service it.

As long as it it a genuine Oris with a serial number they will service it. It stands to reason that a service centre will not undertake warranty work on a GM watch but after that period you will be able to get it serviced. After all, they're hardly going to turn paying customers away.

Like others have said, they will service it provided it has a serial number. What they won't do is honor any warranty work if it's GM.

    servicing grey market oris?

An excerpt of what I received via email from Oris AU

"Original warranty card for all warranty repairs (will not accept photocopy)

Warranty card/proof of purchase for all non-warranty jobs (will not accept watches without)"

I called The Watchmaker at Stoneham MA last month and they confirmed that they service GM watch. (This is the service provider for Oris as stated on their website)
If I remember correctly I was quoted about 250$ for Oris 754 movement SW200.
Can't remember if refinishing of case is included.

Of course Warranty Work is a NO since it's a grey market watch.

Exactly. Reading carefully, it appears that they will just not honor warranty work. It makes complete sense.

Was looking into this myself since I am in the process of purchasing a GM Oris right now.
