    Valid warranty buying from reseller?

Have managed to find an Oris I'd been after on chrono24.
Seller uses the trusted market feature so feel ok about going for this one. Its listed as condition 0 - unworn and with full 2yr manufacturer warranty.

But I have managed to trace them as being a Ltd company that's actually one guy selling out of his spare room.
Not an issue of itself... but if he's not an AD then will the warranty actually be valid?

    Thanks

As long as the warranty card is properly stamped and completed, you should be fine. A lot of chrono24 sellers (as well as a lot of sellers on f29/f30) get their inventory from ADs who can't/won't sell directly at lower prices or outside their geographic area. Oris warranty is transferable so it should not matter how many hands it passes through between the AD who completes it and you.

EDIT: Apparently the third year of warranty you can get for registering your Oris is also transferable: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f22/tra...n-2580578.html. But, I note in that thread it discusses Oris requiring the original proof of purchase as well. So I may have spoken too soon. My experience with Omega and Nomos has been that the completed warranty card is sufficient and I've never been asked for a receipt/proof of purchase from the AD, but Oris may operate differently. So you may want to inquire about that with the chrono24 seller.

    Great, thanks

Sorry for my ignorance, but what/where is f29/f30?

No worries. Might be my military background, I tend to refer to the subforums by their numerical designation (affordables f71, divers f74, oris f22, german f8, etc.). Did you see the edit to my response above re: purchase receipt? Sounds like Oris might do things a little different and you should probably inquire with the seller about the AD purchase receipt so you know ahead of time.

I hadn't seen the edit, read it now.

I know with both my Ball and the Movado I bought my wife, the warranty card has a section where you write who the dealer was (both of those were store-bought so they had a stamp to use). So probably if that is blank, Oris know its resold stock.
I can't see whats stopping me just writing in some random AD address though!

That might work for the warranty card but if they want to see the bill of sale from the AD in addition to the warranty, you might not have what you need. I've not had that experience with other brands but it sounds like Oris may operate differently.

I bought an Oris from Costco. Came with a stamped card. I was able to register online for the third year.

It is my understanding that Oris asks for your proof of purchase when requesting warranty work, but not when extending the warranty. Therefore the ability to extend the warranty doesn't necessarily mean that one would be approved for warranty work. At least that is my understanding based on the limited research that I have done.
